Fall gets busy in Wayne County! The fair rolls in, the weather finally begins to turn, and the calendar fills with the kinds of local gatherings that bring people out of their homes and together as a community.
For Habitat for Humanity in Wayne County, Inc., these events are some of our best opportunities to connect with neighbors, talk about affordable homeownership, and share the stories of local families working toward a safe and affordable place to call home.
When you attend a local event, share a post, stop by our table, or bring someone along, you help more people discover that Habitat homes are being built right here in Wayne County—with the help of their own neighbors.
Awareness matters. It can turn into a first volunteer shift, a first donation, a donated item to the ReStore, or a family finally picking up the phone to ask about our homeownership program. Those connections often begin simply because someone heard about Habitat for the first time.
Wayne County Fair and Rails to Trails
The Wayne County Fair runs September 12–17 at the fairgrounds in Wooster and is always one of the biggest community gatherings of the year.
We’re also glad to be teaming up with Rails to Trails of Wayne County. Be sure to check out their booth at the Fair, you may even find some of us from Habitat helping out there!
Our two organizations are also partnering to coordinate the upcoming September 19 5K race. It’s another great example of local organizations coming together, sharing resources, and introducing our missions to people throughout Wayne County.
Partnerships like this allow both organizations to connect with people we may not otherwise reach. They also reflect something we have learned again and again during our 40 years of serving Wayne County: when local organizations work together, our entire community benefits.
Join Us for the September 19 Race
We’re taking part in a community race on September 19!
The start location, timing, and registration details are still being finalized, so watch our official event updates for the latest information before making your plans.
And you certainly don’t have to be a runner to participate. Walking the course, cheering from the sidelines, sharing the event, or simply stopping by to say hello all help us increase awareness of Habitat’s work in Wayne County.

Artiflex Annual Car Show
We are also looking forward to the annual Artiflex Car Show, which will be held on September 20 from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Artiflex has once again generously chosen Habitat for Humanity in Wayne County as a beneficiary of the event, and we are incredibly grateful. Their staff is always welcoming, generous, and wonderful to work with, and we truly appreciate their continued support of our mission.
Events like the Artiflex Car Show also give us an opportunity to meet people who may never have interacted with Habitat before.
Someone may stop to chat and learn that shopping at or donating to our Wooster ReStore helps support local homebuilding. That conversation may remind them of cabinets, furniture, appliances, or building materials sitting unused at home. Someone else may learn about volunteering or discover our affordable homeownership program for the first time.
Those seemingly small conversations are often how our volunteer family, donor community, and connection with future Habitat homeowners continue to grow.
You Don’t Have to Attend an Event to Help
We know not everyone can make it to a community event, and that’s okay.
You can still be part of Habitat’s work by giving online, signing up for a volunteer shift, shopping or donating items at the ReStore, sharing one of our posts, or simply telling a friend or neighbor about what Habitat does.
Every one of those actions helps keep our mission moving forward.
Forty years into our work in Wayne County, Habitat still depends on the same thing it always has: neighbors choosing to help neighbors.
